Island Diaries: Night cap at Scarlet

February 18, 2015

Scarlet Restaurant is one of the cutest local restaurants with great cocktails and delicious food! Not only are the staff really friendly and attentive, but Scarlet supports a local animal charity (the Barbados RSPCA) by donating a percentage of the proceeds from the 'Cane Dog' cocktail on their menu.

Under construction...

I've been feeling the love [& the pressure] from so many of you recently, asking me when I'm going to 'get back into the blog.' As luck would have it, I was charged up and ready to get the ball rolling at the beginning of this new year, but I then stumbled across several techie glitches throughout my site [cue geeky meltdown] It's being sorted, slowly but surely, and I can't wait to get back into it by next month! Until then, my site won't be accessible to the public, so don't take it personally when you see that only 'selected readers' can access the blog.

Thanks for giving me the kick in the butt that I needed peeps. Happy Tuesday!

Mum & Alfie's Wedding Video

Mr. & Mrs. Naudi tie the knot

February 2, 2015

My Mum has been dating Alfie for over 10 years, so this post has been a long time coming.

5 years ago, Alfie got down on one knee and asked my Mum to marry him on Christmas morning, in front of the three of us. I cried and my brothers, who were young & in those 'anti emotional' stages, cringed at the romance of it all. It was a very special, emotional moment.

Fast forward 5 years and most of us had given up asking when they would finally tie the knot. Their excuse was always 'When the kids have all finished school and are all 3 are in the island at the same time!' Well, that didn't happen very often either, so we were starting to wonder if they were pulling our leg this whole time.

Mum had always said that she wanted to marry Alfie in a small, intimate ceremony, with 'just the kids' as witnesses.

Finally, at the beginning of this year, Mum casually asked all of us whether we would be in the country at the end of January because they had finally decided to tie the knot.  Our conversation went like this:

'What! This is awesome Mum, when will this be happening?'
'Next week Friday'
'So you're planning a wedding in 8 days?'
'You know I don't like things fussy.'

Alfie had surprised my Mum with a schooner cruise on for her birthday in February and the first thing Mum thought was that this seemed like an ideal Honeymoon....So they both decided they needed to bite the bullet within a week in order to make it all work in time for the cruise.

Within a few days M + A had decided on the venue, the pastor, photographer and the 'theme'; beachy, simple and intimate. They chose Cattlewash as their venue, with the famous 'Round Rock' as their backdrop. We all wore white and Mum and I put together her bouquet of flowers that morning at our local flower mart, before having lunch with 'the girls' and getting ready. declaring her the least 'fussy' bride ever is an understatement :)

It was a beautiful, emotional day filled with love, and I'm so happy to 'officially' [finally] be able to call Alfie my stepdad.

I'll stop blabbering at this point and let Sofie Warren's amazing photos speak for themselves.

*Note: You should check out Sofie's website - she's not only the sweetest person you'll ever meet, but her photography style is very natural and subtle. We forgot she was even there sometimes, which was perfect for this intimate occasion. I'm so grateful that Sofie could be here for my Mum's special day!

These last two were taken with my new GoPro :)

Stay tuned for the video, coming soon ;)

Island Diaries | You can't sit with us...

We spent the laziest, haziest, most hungover Sunday by the pool and it was perfect. I can't believe these girls are going to be leaving me so soon.
